Sabrina Phillips-Designing Women of Orange County

Sabrina is a driven and intuitive entrepreneur that other new female business owners can aspire

to be. She doesn’t just look at how to improve a space's interior design. She considers how the

design change can impact the client's life, improving their environment and giving them a fresh

perspective. The work she does has been life-changing for her customers.

How Her Journey Began

Ever since she was young, she has possessed an entrepreneurial spirit. As a child, she enjoyed

art, design, space, and drawing floor plans for fun. Her father was a naturopathic chiropractor,

and she made business decisions that significantly grew his practice.

At 18, she started a consulting business and switched to her residential design business at 23.

Her mom asked her, “What makes you think you can start a business?” Sabrina replied, “What

makes you think I can’t?”

Her determination paid off. Starting on a shoestring budget, she grew her business to a half-

million-dollar business in 4 years. Despite going through challenges on her journey, including

burnout, she has grown her business into a highly recognized interior design firm.

Lessons Learned on Her Entrepreneurial Journey

1. Protect your energy levels – guard against burnout and your limiting BS (belief systems)

2. Don’t force anything – have faith that everything will work out

3. Don’t be afraid of the dark times – be okay with being in the chrysalis

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Female Entrepreneurs

1. Never give up - believe everything is happening for you and that nothing is impossible

2. Don’t be afraid to do something without a degree – if you have a skill, use it, staying

open to learning and observing

3. Don’t listen to people who don’t believe in you – surround yourself with people who want

to see you succeed

Do you know of someone who would like to be a part of Sabrina’s design team? She is looking

for part-time designers and project assistants to join her firm. Please connect with her if you

have someone in mind.
